Treatment of Bacterial infections

Bacteria is commonly treated with antibiotics, but in some circumstances the infection will go away with or without antibiotics. As a typical example, streptococcus usually die off in 5-7 days with or without antibiotics.

Bacteria are single-celled organisms with plant and animal characteristics. They are prolific in nature, but most forms are harmless to human. In fact, some (such as the Lactobacilli acidophilus bacteria that can live in the human intestine) actually help digest food, destroy disease-causing microbes, fight cancer cells, and provide essential nutrients. We have millions of them living in our bodies. Fewer of them cause disease in human.

Harmful bacteria cause infections by secreting toxic waste that damage the cells. Antibiotics are created from the toxic secretions of good bacteria and kill the harmful bacteria. Our bodies activate the immune system and respond to the infections. Fever, nausea, vomiting, body aches, headache, are some of the common responses to fight the infections.

A pathologist explained that cultures of an infection are taken and grown in a laboratory, the kind of harmful bacteria are match with the corresponding antibiotic as treatment.
